Show of the Week: 6/2/12 The Whicker and Pine and Indigenous Robot at Illegal Pete’s DU

Like the name suggests, The Whicker and Pine are rustic and bare-bones, crafted from analog sensitivity and earthy melodies. We are excited to have them playing our DU location this Saturday along with Indigenous Robot

The Whicker and Pine, fronted by singer-songwriter Jon Johnson, a Seattle transplant, craft blissed-out Americana music in the tradition of Rocky Votaloto and Baywood.

Openers Indigenous Robot approach songwriting from a more digital angle, making psychedelic based rock and roll relying heavy on distorted guitars and synthesizers.

This show is FREE and begins at 9pm! Won’t you join us?

The Epilogues - Click for hi res
Combining pristine melodies, meaningful lyrics, and dynamic keyboards, The Epilogues deliver polished and danceworthy tunes that carry a kick. Often compared to Muse or Silversun Pickups, The Epilogues’ hit single “Hunting Season” reached power rotation in their hometown of Denver on the commercial station 93.3 KTCL, gaining the band explosive momentum. From SXSW in Austin to The Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles, to national Warped Tour runs and CMJ in New York City, the band has played with a plethora of incredible acts like AWOLNATION, Portugal The Man, All American Rejects, 3oh!3, Phoenix, Ra Ra Riot, Ghostland Observatory, P.O.S., Grieves, Tickle Me Pink, Drive By Truckers, Savoy, Bassnectar and many more. The passionate urgency with which they play each dazzling live show leaves fans both elated and yearning for more.

The Epilogues—Chris Heckman (vocals/guitar), Nate Hammond (keys), Jason Hoke (drums), and Jeff Swoboda (bass)—are releasing their upcoming album, Cinematics, via Greater Than Collective in the fall. Contact Erin@Illegalpetes.com for press info.

Show of the Week: 5/26/12 Flashbulb Fires and Guest at Illegal Pete’s DU

We are very excited to have Flashbulb Fires as the latest band to take part in our Illegal Pete’s tour. The band will be playing three of our locations - DU, Pearl St. and Downtown -  and we highly suggest you make it to as many of these as you can.

The shows are as follows;

5/26/12 Flashbulb Fires and Guest at Illegal Pete’s DU (FREE, Starts at 9pm)

6/1/12 Flashbulb Fires and Guest at Illegal Pete’s Pearl St (Boulder) (FREE, Starts at 9pm)

6/2/12 Flashbulb Fires and Guest at Illegal Pete’s Downtown (FREE, Starts at 9pm)

Flashbulb Fires’ current album, Gasconder, is an exhibition in rich, orchestral melodies with an indie-rock sensibility. Touching on similar themes as their last album, Glory, the band explores personal isolation and religious guilt using snyth, soaring guitar tones and creative rhythms that makes the band challenging yet catchy.

With a relentless tour schedule, (other than the rigorous one we currently have them on) a tireless work ethic and a unique and engaging sound, Flashbulb fires are a band with limitless potential and we hope we have more opportunities to help them out along their journey.

We spent two days and two nights in Dillon, Colorado, spending time talking about Illegal Pete’s future and vision. It was an extremely positive experience where we got a lot of work done while also fitting in some good hang time. Here are some of the photos from our trip. And yes, Ice Cube photo bombed us!
